It is a symbol with a deep esoteric meaning. The eye has always been one of the most powerful protective symbols of ancient Egypt.

The eyes of the gods of the Horus hawks are the sun and the moon. The right eye is represented by the sun, and symbolizes the future and activity, the left eye is represented by the moon and symbolizes the past and passivity.

Both eyes lead to omniscience and are associated with invulnerability and eternal fertility. For this reason they were often placed on the left side of the sarcophagi: in this way the deceased could see the way to go. In our day it is used as a powerful evil eye amulet.
